Six new chapters have been added in the book. “Here are new chapters on 'CAT 2009: The actual experience', 'Preparing for the FMS Exam', 'Preparing for the XAT Exam' 'Essay Writing', 'Extempores' and 'Practice Extempore Topics and Samples,' mentions author Sidharth Balakrishna. The addition of chapters is a result of the experience of last year’s CAT exam.
Balakrishna, while talking on the rationale behind the addition of the news chapters on CAT 2009 says, “The book incorporates new features in line with the changing pattern of the CAT exam. Apart from CAT exam, the book has also given due emphasis of the prominent MBA entrance exams like XAT, FMS etc. Relevant chapters on Essay writing and Extempore have also been added in the book. “There are new chapters on Essay Writing and Extempore. This is because the new trend is to use Essay Writing as an addition to/in substitution for Group Discussions in some institutes. Hence these new chapters tell the students how to prepare for these and provide tips for these testing methods,” Balakrishna justifies the addition of the chapters on Essay and Extempore.

For the CAT 2010 aspirants, Balakrishna shares the fact that there is not much difference between the computer based CAT except for the method of delivery. “Hence you need not worry. You should be regular in your practice and concentrate on building your aptitude in Verbal Ability, Quantitative Aptitude and the Data Interpretation & Analytical Ability sections. Hence, daily practice and reading are more important than intensive study on just two to three days a week,” suggests Balakrishna.
